---(電話中に)ちょっと切らずに待ってて下さい、彼女がいるかどうか見てきます。
♠ Hold on はこのほかに、だれかにちょっと待ってて、などというときにも使えます。
After he hung up. He remembered what he had to say to her.
---電話を切ったあとに、彼女に言わなければならなかったことを思い出した。
♠ Hang up で電話を切る。ring off などとも言います。
His line is busy now.
---彼は話し中です。

♠ この表現は簡単なのですが、言えない表現の一つです。

♠ 電話などで遠くの相手にそちら天気を尋ねる時。

---そちらの天気はどうなの?
♠What's it like there?で、「そこではどうなの? どんな感じなの? どんな風なの?」となります。
海外の人にそっちはどんな感じと言いたい時に使えます。
これにout thereで外はと言う感覚です。

♠気温について聞いています。

台風:typhoon
Big typhoons usually hit Japan in September. ---9月になると日本は大型の台風に襲われる。
低気圧:low pressure area/depression
The center of the depression is over the Pacific Ocean.

高気圧:high atmospheric pressure
High atmospheric pressure overlies West Japan.

丁寧な言い方

♠ 英語にも丁寧な言い方が存在します。基本的に文が長くなるほど過去形を使うほど丁寧な響きになります。
初心者の方なら多少の間違いは相手も許してくれるでしょが、ある程度の上級者になりましたら必要以上に丁寧な言葉を使用したり失礼な言い回しを続けていると相手は馬鹿にしてるではと感じますのでしっかり覚えておきましょう。

下に行くほど丁寧になります。

♠ 日本人はPleaseをつければ丁寧だと勘違いしている人が多いようです。Please + 動詞の原型はかなり強い命令口調になりますので気をつけましょう。

ジョニーデップ主演のシークレットウインドウと言う映画でこんなセリフがありました。

I'm wondering if you don't mind could you ask you a favor.
超丁寧に頼むためにこの長さのセンテンスを使用します。

電車

デートに誘う

May I ask you out (on a date) again?

♠「ask someone out」で誰かをデートに誘うになります。
この言葉を言う時は、ドキドキしますね。(^^♪「The worst thing she could say is no.」
Would you go out with me?
---デートしませんか?(付き合ってもらえませんか?)
♠最初
のデートの誘いに使えます。
I went (out) on a date with her last night.
---私は彼女昨晩デートしました。
♠「go out on a date with~」で「~とデートする」「out」は省略できます。
We had been going out for five years before marriage.
---結婚するまで、5年付き合っていました。
♠よく使う言いかたですのですらっと言えるように何回も発音しましょう。

---デートしない?
♠一番ポピュラーな言いかたで、「ask out」が聞こえたらデートの誘いです。
We met on a blind date. Her friend organized it.
---俺たちは、彼女の友達がセットしてくれたブライドデートだった。
♠まだ見た事の無い同志での初めてのデートを「blind date」と言います。
「Tonight I’m going on a date with someone I’ve never met before.」と通常だと長くなってしまいますが、
「blind date」を使えば簡単ですね。(^^♪「

ちなみに「blind」関連で、ついでに覚えましょう。

手に関する英単語や表現はたくさんありますのでしっかりと覚えましょう。

Hand(複数形/hands)
